NADCEL 2026: COAS Assures Renew Commitment To Core Values, Professionalism

The Chief of Army Staff, COAS, Lieutenant General Waidi Shaibu has assured the Nigerian Army renewed commitment to the core values of loyalty, discipline, integrity, selfless service, and professionalism.

The COAS gave this assurance during his remarks at an inter-denominational Church Service as part of the activities lined up for the Nigerian Army Day Celebration 2026 (NADCEL), in Abuja.

He explained that Nigerian Army remains committed to ensuring that young Nigerians are adequately trained, properly equipped, and professionally developed to meet the demands of military service.

The Army Chief who was represented by the Commander, Army Headquarters Garrison, Major General Maxwell Dangana, explained that Army remains committed to ensuring that young Nigerians are adequately trained, properly equipped, and professionally developed to meet the demands of military service.

According to him, the strategic expansion aims to enhance the army’s operational capability and respond effectively to contemporary security threats.

Speaking about the historical significance of the Nigerian Army , he stated that the army has been a symbol of patriotism, resilience, sacrifice, and unwavering commitment to national service for 163 years.

He said that the theme of the year’s Nigerian Army Day celebration is “Protecting the Nation and Serving the People: A Way Forward for the Nigerian Army, noting that the theme calls for introspection, renewal, and real education, emphasizing the primary constitutional mandate of the Nigerian Army.

The Army Chief stressed that thr Nigerian Army remains actively engaged in operations aimed at combating terrorism, insurgency, banditry, kidnapping, oil theft, and other criminal activities.

He mentioned that despite the complexity of security challenges, the Nigerian Army has recorded notable achievements through the dedication, courage, and professionalism of its personnel.

He added that several
criminal elements have been neutralized, terrorists’ enclaves dismantled, hostages rescued, and communities restored to peace.

According to him, the successes have been achieved through collective efforts of personnel working in collaboration with civilian services, other security agencies, and relevant stakeholders.

Lt General Shaibu commended the loyalty, discipline, and commitment to duty of officers and soldiers, emphasizing the importance of leadership, professionalism, and operational effectiveness.
