Okpala-Umuekwune Union Inaugurates New Executives In Abuja

The Okpala-Umuekwune Development Union, an umbrella social cultural organisation holding the people of Okpala-Umuekwune residing in Abuja and its environment together, on Sunday June 21 inaugurated an elected executive to lead the people of the town for a tenure of two years.

Rising from a keenly contested election organised by the Union electoral committee chairman, Mr Ikechukwu Eguzoro announced that Mr Emmanuel Ikegwu, having fulfilled the requirements in line with the bylaw guiding the election, the constitution of the Union and winning the highest number of votes is declared the winner. Members of his Executives who were sworn in alongside him are Sir Peter Afor, who won the Vice-chairman’s position, Dr Ikechukwu B. Nkwocha won the treasurer, Mr Chucks Anodi emerged the Financial Secretary, Mrs Ebere Nwachukwu won the Assistant Financial Secretary, Mr Uzochi Maduike was returned as the Secretary, Mr Cajethan Ebo emerged the Assistant Secretary, Mr. Emeka Nwaorgu won the Public Relations Officer and Mr.Tochi Ekeh emerged the Provost.
In his inaugural speech, the Chairman, Mr. Ikegwu thanked all members who supported and believed in his candidacy, pledged that his administration will lead with an open-door policy and carry members along. He promised to prioritise members welfare and encouraged other Okpala-Umuekwune sons and daughters who are yet to identify with the Union to do so. He appealed to members for maximum support to move the union to greater heights as the core aim of the union is to be our brother’s keeper and attract development to the town. According to him, the days of sleeping are over and now is the time to unite our people for progress and development. He equally thanked the outgone executive led by Ozor Franklin Ekeh for keeping the union running and promised to add more value to the Union. Also, the patron of the union, Chief Ralphael Maduike; a foundation member, Mr Longinus Obijuru, Mr.Eric Oguzie , SA to Hon Matthew Nwogu, member, representing Aboh Mbaise / Ngor Okpala Federal Constituency and the women’s wing of the union were all in attendance.
