Bala Mohammed Mourns Former Bauchi Deputy Governor Audu Katagum

Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, has expressed profound grief over the death of former Deputy Governor of the state and Wazirin Katagum, Arc. Audu Sule Katagum, describing his passing as a significant loss to both the political and traditional institutions of Bauchi State.

Katagum reportedly died in the early hours of Monday at Nizamiye Hospital in Abuja.

In a condolence message, Governor Mohammed described the late statesman as a loyal, patriotic and dedicated public servant who devoted his life to the service of humanity with humility, dignity and a strong sense of responsibility.

The governor recalled Katagum’s contributions during his tenure as Deputy Governor under the administration of former Governor Mohammed Abubakar, noting that he played a vital role in promoting good governance, peace and development across the state.

Mohammed also praised the late elder statesman for his service as Chairman of the Governing Board of the Adamu Tafawa Balewa College of Education, where he demonstrated commitment to educational advancement and institutional growth.

Beyond public office, the governor highlighted Katagum’s achievements as a respected architect and engineer whose professional expertise contributed significantly to infrastructure development and environmental planning in Bauchi State.

According to him, the deceased’s dedication to excellence helped shape numerous development initiatives that continue to benefit communities across the state.

Governor Mohammed further described the late Wazirin Katagum as a man of wisdom, integrity and exceptional leadership whose counsel was widely respected across political, traditional and social circles.

He noted that Katagum remained committed to the unity, peace and progress of Bauchi State throughout his lifetime, earning admiration from people across different backgrounds.

The governor urged the family, friends, associates and members of the Katagum Emirate Council to find comfort in the remarkable life and enduring legacy left behind by the deceased.

He also extended condolences to the Emir of Katagum, the people of the emirate and residents of Bauchi State, describing Katagum’s death as a loss that would be deeply felt across the state.

Governor Mohammed prayed for Allah’s mercy upon the departed soul, asking God to forgive his shortcomings, reward his good deeds and grant him eternal rest.
