Adamawa Police Arrest Suspect Over Abduction of Three Children in Yola

The Adamawa State Police Command has arrested a suspected kidnapper linked to the abduction of three children in Yola North Local Government Area of the state.

The development was confirmed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Suleiman Nguroje.

According to the statement, the case was reported to the State Intelligence Department on June 16, 2026, by one Samaila Musa, a resident of Hullere Gwalamba in Yola North Local Government Area.

Musa informed the police that three children identified as Adamu Samaila Sultan, 24, Bilal Abdurrahman, 8, and Ya’u Sani Baba Iyali, 10, were abducted on June 12, 2026, and taken to an unknown location.

The complainant further told investigators that the kidnappers later contacted the family and demanded a ransom in exchange for the release of the victims.

Following the report, the Commissioner of Police in Adamawa State, CP Kabir Hassan, directed operatives of the command to launch a comprehensive investigation into the incident.

The police subsequently deployed intelligence assets and technical resources to track down those responsible for the abduction.

According to the command, the swift response yielded positive results, leading to the arrest of one suspect believed to be connected to the kidnapping.

“The swift action led to the subsequent arrest of one suspect,” the statement noted.

The police spokesperson disclosed that the suspect is currently in protective custody and is cooperating with investigators by providing useful information that may lead to the arrest of other members of the kidnapping syndicate operating within the state.

Nguroje stated that investigations into the matter are still ongoing and assured members of the public that the police remain committed to ensuring the safe recovery of the victims and the prosecution of all individuals involved in the crime.

He added that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.

The command reiterated its commitment to tackling kidnapping and other forms of criminality across Adamawa State and urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible information.
