The Nigeria Youths in Politics (NYP) has called for the immediate intervention of the Chairman of the All Progressive Congress , APC and the National Secretary over the outcome of the primary election for the Aniocha South State Constituency seat of the Delta State House of Assembly.
The Chairman, NYP Hon. Dr. Felix Tolorunju Idowu , made this call in a statement in Abuja.
He explained that their immediate and decisive intervention is not merely requested but imperative to thoroughly investigate and rectify the manipulated outcome of the primary election in involving Hon. Igbiki Cyril Chiedozie .
He added that compelling evidence and overwhelming testimonies from party stakeholders, delegates, and grassroots supporters unequivocally confirm that Hon. Igbiki Cyril Chiedozie overwhelmingly secured the genuine mandate of the Aniocha South Constituency delegates.
According to the chairman, in a shocking betrayal of trust and democratic norms, a fabricated result was purportedly announced, brazenly nullifying the true electoral will of the party faithful.
He emphasised that this is not merely an ‘allegation’ but a profound injustice that undermines the very essence of participatory democracy.
“The Nigeria Youths in Politics (NYP) issues an unequivocal condemnation of the blatant subversion of democratic principles observed during the recently concluded All Progressives Congress (APC) primary election for the Aniocha South State Constituency seat of the Delta State House of Assembly. We view the circumstances surrounding this election with profound alarm, recognizing its detrimental implications for internal party democracy and national credibility.
“We therefore issue an urgent and direct appeal to His Excellency, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the esteemed National Chairman of the APC, and the National Secretary of our great party. Their immediate and decisive intervention is not merely requested but imperative to thoroughly investigate and rectify the manipulated outcome of the primary election involving Hon. Igbiki Cyril Chiedozie,” he said.
Hon. Idowu noted that the integrity of party primaries serves as the bedrock of a credible democracy.
He stated that the Nigeria Youths in Politics unequivocally asserted that any perceived compromise in the conduct or outcome of the internal processes strikes at the heart of the democratic experiment.
He demanded that such grave concerns be addressed with absolute transparency, rigorous adherence to the APC Constitution, and strict compliance with all party guidelines.
He lamented that the incident exacerbates growing perceptions among young people and dedicated party members that internal democratic processes are susceptible to undue influence, potentially sidelining the aspirations of deserving candidates in favor of pre-determined choices.
He mentioned that the party believed that upholding the true outcome of the primary election is a vital test of the APC’s commitment to the very ideals.
“We therefore anticipate, rather than merely trust, that the national leadership will act decisively to ensure due process is rigorously applied and that all legitimate grievances stemming from this primary are not just reviewed, but rectified,” he stated.
He implored the party leadership not just to uphold the choice, but to champion it, thereby sending an unambiguous and resounding message that democracy, equity, and the unwavering rule of law constitute the inviolable bedrock of the political process.
