President Bola Tinubu is currently holding talks with Madagascar’s President, Michael Randrianirina, at the Presidential Villa in Abuja as both leaders seek to reinforce diplomatic ties and expand cooperation between their countries.
The high-level meeting is aimed at deepening relations between Nigeria and Madagascar while exploring opportunities for stronger collaboration in areas of mutual interest.
President Randrianirina arrived at the State House Forecourt at approximately 2:57 p.m. on a courtesy visit and was welcomed by Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs, Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu.
After a brief reception ceremony, the Madagascan leader was escorted into the Presidential Villa, where he proceeded to a closed-door meeting with Bola Tinubu.
The discussions are expected to focus on strengthening diplomatic engagement between both nations and identifying new areas for partnership. Officials say the visit reflects the commitment of Nigeria and Madagascar to building stronger political and economic relationships while promoting shared interests across the African continent.
The meeting also underscores ongoing efforts by both countries to enhance cooperation in sectors that can drive regional development, boost trade and investment, and contribute to Africa’s broader integration agenda.
Nigeria and Madagascar have in recent years sought to expand bilateral engagements, with both governments recognizing the importance of stronger partnerships in addressing common developmental challenges and advancing continental growth objectives.
The visit is expected to further solidify relations between the two countries and provide a platform for future cooperation on economic, diplomatic, and regional matters.
