Oyo Government Demolishes House Allegedly Used as Kidnappers’ Hideout in Ibadan

House Linked to Abduction

The Oyo State Government has demolished a three-bedroom bungalow located in the Lako Community along the Aiyegun–Anaye Road in Ibadan, which was allegedly used as a hideout by kidnappers involved in the abduction of the younger sister of former Minister of Power, Chief Bayo Adelabu, alongside her children.

The demolition exercise was carried out on Monday by officials of the Oyo State Ministry of Public Works and Transportation, with security support from operatives of the Nigeria Police Force, as part of ongoing efforts to intensify the fight against kidnapping and other violent crimes in the state.

Officials stated that the property was identified during investigations into the kidnapping incident and subsequently marked for demolition after it was allegedly linked to criminal activities.

The victims, Mrs. Olaide Busayo Adegoke John-Paul and her 12-year-old twin sons, Peter and Paul, were reportedly abducted at Elewura in the Challenge area of Ibadan on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, sparking widespread concern and security responses across the city.

The state government said the demolition reflects its firm commitment to dismantling criminal networks and denying kidnappers any operational base within Oyo State. It added that properties found to be used for criminal purposes would be treated in line with the law.

Authorities further reiterated that the government remains determined to track down perpetrators of kidnapping and ensure that all individuals or facilities aiding such crimes are identified and dealt with appropriately as part of broader security enforcement measures.
