Maxicare Rural Health Initiative has extended its free medical outreach for residents of Muko Community in Dutse Baupama, Bwari Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT.
The successful two-day medical outreach, held on Wednesday and Thursday, May 13 and 14, brought essential healthcare services directly to the rural community with limited access to medical facilities.
Over the two days exercise, hundreds of residents received general medical consultations, free medications for common illnesses, blood pressure and blood sugar screenings, as well as malaria testing and treatment.
Other medical services provided at the outreach are health education on hygiene, nutrition and disease prevention; referrals for cases requiring specialist or hospital care, relieving many beneficiaries who had not accessed professional medical care in over a year.
The initiative aimed to close the healthcare gap for underserved communities and support the national drive toward Universal Health Coverage.
“We thank our team of volunteer doctors, nurses, pharmacists, and community volunteers whose dedication made the outreach possible.
“We also appreciate the cooperation of the Duste Alhaji community leaders and residents for their warm reception and organisation.
“Maxicare Rural Health Initiative remains committed to extending quality, accessible healthcare to rural Nigerians. We call on government agencies, private sector partners, and well-meaning individuals to collaborate with us in reaching more communities in need,” said director-general of the organisation, Dr. Abel Yusuf.
