Three persons said to be members of Evangelical Church Winning All, ECWA, lost their lives, while 10 others sustained injuries in a road accident at Bara Village, Bauchi State.

The crash reportedly occurred on Monday along the Bauchi-Gombe Highway, as the victims were returning from an evangelism outreach in Taraba State.

According to the Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, RS12.15 Bara Unit Command, the incident took place around 11:30am at Tumfere-Lakau axis and was reported at 11:40am, with FRSC personnel arriving the scene by 11:52am.

The accident involved a Toyota Hiace bus with registration number KWL-03HC, owned by ECWA and driven by Emmanuel Kwata.

Preliminary investigations by the FRSC attributed the crash to a tyre burst while the vehicle was in motion.

A total of 13 passengers, comprising 10 men and three women, were on board. Three individuals—one man and two women—were confirmed dead, while the remaining 10 sustained injuries.

The injured were promptly transported to the Federal Teaching Hospital, Gombe for treatment. Six remain under care, while five have been discharged.

The deceased were identified as Mama Deborah Bonat, former ECWA Women Fellowship International leader; Reverend Habila Tagwai Kajan, former Zonzon District Church Council, DCC, Secretary, and Mama Lydia John.

Confirming the tragedy, the ECWA leadership expressed sorrow over the loss of its members.

In a statement signed by its Public Relations Officer, Danjuma Auta, the church disclosed that the bus was conveying 14 participants from Zonzon DCC in Kaduna State.

The church said it is coordinating with the authorities to ensure the safe return of the deceased to their families for burial.
