Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Bayelsa, George Turnah, has expressed delight over the smooth conduct of the party’s congress in the 105 wards in the state.
Turnah made the remark in an interview with newsmen shortly after monitoring the congress in his Kolo Ward 9 in Ogbia LGA of the state.
He said that reports at his disposal confirmed that the exercise went smoothly across the state.
He commended the party faithful for their maturity, unity and commitment to democratic ideals.
According to him, the peaceful conduct of the Congress reflects the strength and internal cohesion of the party at the grassroots level.
Turnah advised the party leaders to arm themselves with the PDP constitution and be guided by its provisions.
He thanked the Minister of FCT, Chief Nyesom Wike, for his supportive role in promoting the growth of PDP at all levels.
He also thanked the National Officers for their close monitoring of the exercise which, he said, helped to ensure a hitch-free process.
The new party executive for the ward comprises Progress Ederi (Chairman), Samuel Ogbe (Deputy Chairman), Mr ThankGod Odo (Secretary), Abali Arumobhel (Assistant Secretary), and Awodumapu Amakupo (Treasurer), among others.
In a brief remark, the new ward chairman thanked the party leaderships at both national and state levels for their solidarity.
Ederi promised that the new executive would justify the confidence reposed in it.
