Gov Alia Appoints Alabar As FAUM Vice Chancellor

Benue State governor, Hyacinth Alia has approved the appointment of Professor Timothy Alabar as the new Vice Chancellor of Father Adasu University, Makurdi, FAUM. 

The governor, in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Tersoo  Kula yesterday in Makurdi, explained that the decision followed due process carried out by the university’s Governing Board and other relevant authorities. 

Alia said the appointment takes immediate effect. 

According to the statement, Alabar, a Professor of Marketing, has been serving as the Dean of the Postgraduate School at FAUM since joining the institution in 1999.

The new vice chancellor, who hails from Ukum Local Government Area of Benue State, held various positions, including dean of the Faculty of Administration and Management, acting vice chancellor, as well as head of the Department of Business Management. 

The governor charged  him to provide visionary, ethical and inclusive leadership that will advance academic excellence, foster cutting-edge research, nurture character and competence.

He also advised the new vice chancellor to  uphold the autonomy and integrity of the university, promote a culture of merit, innovation and accountability, as well as ensure prudent stewardship of human and material resources.
