Buni Approves Absorption Of 56 Bank Staff Into Civil Service

Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni has approved the absorption of 56 staff of Yobe Microfinance Bank into the state civil service, granting them permanent and pensionable appointments.

The approval was disclosed by the Managing Director of the bank, Sheriff Almuhajir. 

Almuhajir said when he assumed office as MD/CEO, he met 26 staff, all on contract appointments, except one officer seconded from the Ministry of Finance.

He explained that the bank was subsequently strengthened through the recruitment of 47 young people, who were trained and mentored to drive the institution’s operations.

According to him, over the past six years, several recruited staff have risen to occupy key positions as heads of departments, branch managers and unit heads, contributing significantly to the stability and growth of the bank.

He noted that following sustained engagement with the state government, Governor Buni approved the absorption of 56 existing staff of the bank into the civil service.

The managing director expressed profound appreciation to the governor for the approval, describing it as a demonstration of the administration’s commitment to youth empowerment, job security and institutional development.

The approval has been widely welcomed by staff of Yobe Microfinance Bank who described it as a morale booster and a life-changing development.
