Young Nigerian Goalkeeper Secures First Senior Team Start in Europe

Joel Ajayi

Former Flying Eagles goalkeeper, James Samuel Friday has earned his first start for the senior team of SJK against Jaro in the topflight league in Finland.

At 19 years, James was a big revelation last season in Finland where he was in terrific form  for SJK Akatemia – the B team in the Finland’s Ykkosliiga, where he won the Man- of- the- Match Award couple of times and he also won the best goalkeeper award in the Ykkosliga.

It is therefore a great step in the development of the former Mavlon Fc of Lagos goalkeeper after being named in the starting line up for the senior team under a new coach.

Standing at 6ft.5 inches, it is hoped that James will continue to give a good account of himself in his quest to be a reliable safe hands in goal for SJK of Finland
