The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has appointed Deacon Gbenga Adeola Olusa as Director of Politics and Governance for Young Adults and Youths Affairs (YAYA), Continent 2.
The appointment was announced at a leadership meeting on Saturday, 10 January 2026, by the Continental 2 Youth Pastor, Pastor Emmanuel Bakare. Continent 2 covers seven regions in Nigeria and 13 countries outside the country.
Olusa, a parish pastor in Region 45 and a seasoned administrator with more than a decade of experience in public policy and community development, will oversee political education programmes, support church members seeking public office, and advocate policies promoting transparency, justice and social welfare.
In a statement issued by the RCCG Directorate of Politics and Governance, Olusa said he was honoured by the appointment and pledged to equip young believers to engage in politics without compromising their faith, while promoting people-centred and accountable governance.
The appointment comes amid growing calls for religious institutions to take a more active role in Nigeria’s political development, particularly ahead of forthcoming elections.
RCCG, one of the world’s largest Pentecostal churches, established its Directorate of Politics and Good Governance in 2022 to encourage civic participation, voter education and leadership development among members.
Church leaders and members have welcomed Olusa’s appointment, describing it as a further step towards strengthening youth involvement in governance and nation-building.
