Bomb Blast Kills 9 Soldiers, Injures Others In Borno

Explosive devices planted by suspected Boko Haram insurgents killed nine soldiers with others seriously injured when a military convoy tripped on a landmine in the northern part of Borno State on Sunday.

Our correspondent gathered that the incident occurred in the remote village of Bindundul, near Kareto town, in Mobbar Local Government Area, following a sporadic shooting from the outlawed group.

According to security sources, they were heading from Maiduguri to Damasak, the headquarters of Mobbar Local Government Area, when the unfortunate attack occurred.

Another source revealed that the anti bomb resistant vehicle was damaged beyond repair due to the magnitude of the bomb blast.

Credible security sources said nine gallant soldiers paid the supreme sacrifice to defend the nation,

However, our correspondent sighted the bodies of soldiers in a viral video were their are colleagues were trying to save them from the scene of the bomb blast.

A security officer who does not want to his name in print told AljazirahNigeria that other  wounded soldiers are currently receiving treatment in the hospital.

Another soldier sustained serious injuries, said a second officer, adding that they were evacuated by a rescue team to Maiduguri for medical care, he said

Both officers did not want to be named, as they had not been authorised to speak to the media.

“Two gun truck and several vehicles were damaged in the explosion.”
