Abdullahi Zubairu Abiya has emerged as the acting State Chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party ,NNPP, in Kano State, following the sacking of the former Chairman, Hashimu Dungurawa.
This is contained in a statement by the spokesperson of Gov. Abba Yusuf, Sanusi Bature, issued on Tuesday in Kano.
Bature said the NNPP State Executive Committee endorsed Abiya’s appointment at an emergency meeting held at the party’s Secretariat in Kano.
According to him, he decision was announced by Yusuf Mukhtar, the party’s Assistant Legal Adviser, citing the NNPP constitution
He said that the development followed the submission of a formal resolution on Dungurawa’s sacking by the Dawakin Tofa Local Government Executive Committee, which accused him of anti-party activities.
Abiya pledged the party’s commitment to justice, loyalty to national leader Sen. Rabiu Kwankwaso, and support for Yusuf.
Dungurawa had however insisted that he remained the bonafide Chairman of the party in the state, describing his alleged expulsion as null, void and of no effect.
