Rise Above Your Beginnings: Edo Women Inspire Orphans To Dream Big

By Ismaila Jimoh, Abuja

Abuja chapter of the Association of Dynamic Edo Women Worldwide has charged orphans, to put behind circumstances of their birthday and forge ahead towards achievement of their dreams and greatness.

The Association gave this charge during a recent visit to the City of Refuge Orphanage in Durumi, Abuja, to spread Christmas cheer and inspire the children to aim for greatness despite their backgrounds.

Led by the chapter’s Coordinator, Mrs. Rosemary Ebhodaghe, the group encouraged the orphans not to let their circumstances define their future. “Many successful people today started from humble beginnings,” she said. “With hard work and determination, you too can achieve greatness.”

Mrs. Judith Ogedengbe, the association’s Secretary, emphasized the importance of commitment and making wise career choices. She provided guidance on necessary subjects for different professions, urging the children to stay focused on their goals.

The Public Relations Officer, Mrs. Stella Ojeme, advised the children on choosing the right friends. “Bad company can derail your dreams,” she warned, encouraging them to seek mentorship from trustworthy adults.

Mrs. Joan Osunbor, the Financial Secretary, stressed the power of faith, urging the children to stay prayerful and avoid negative influences like drugs and cultism.

The orphanage’s matron, representing manager Mr. A. Darlington, expressed gratitude for the visit and the donated food items. She noted that the Durumi branch houses 50 orphans, aged 10 to 20, with many away pursuing education in secondary schools and universities.

DEWWA, a global philanthropic group of Edo women, is dedicated to empowering the less privileged. The Abuja Chapter is led by Mrs. Rosemary Ebhodaghe, under the national leadership of Hon. Bose Ihaza.
