Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, has directed its education wing to close down its school till further notice.
While it could not be immediately confirmed if the directive affected schools in other states, a notice to parents by the school management in the Federal Capital territory, FCT, Niger, Nasarawa and Benue States, stated that “We are writing to inform you that following a directive from the Continental Overseer and Assistant General Overseer, Education and Training, Redeemers Dominion Seed International School will be temporarily closed from Monday, November 24 until further notice. This decision has been necessitated by the current security situation”
The letter stated that “We kindly request that no learner reports to the school premises until the resumption notice. In the meantime, please ensure that your child continues with their studies and revision. We appreciate your cooperation and understanding in prioritising the safety of our learners.
“We apologise for any inconvenience this sudden closure may cause and appreciate your support in this decision. Your safety and that of our learners is our top priority”.
The temporary closure is coming on the heels of escalating insecurity and the abduction of 315 school children in Niger State.
Similarly, the Catholic Mission in Nigeria has called for the closure and deboarding of all its schools across the country.
