Chairman, Niger State Independent Electoral Commission, NSIEC, Engr Mohammed Jubril Imam, has reaffirmed the unwavering commitment of the commission to the conduct of an election that will stand the test of integrity and reflect the will of the people in the Local Government election holding in the state on Saturday.
He made the disclosure yesterday at the Commission’s office, while speaking with journalists on the Commission’s readiness for the polls.
He stated that the Commission has also trained Ad-hoc staffs, concluded arrangements for the smooth conduct of the local government elections.
While speaking further, he stated that the Commission was engaged in the monitoring of the primary elections of all the participating political parties as required by the Electoral Act, stressing that it engaged stakeholders in the election exercise, inline with its open-
door policy.
“Today, Thursday, we have reached a major milestone which is the distribution of sensitive election materials to various local government areas across the state, under strict supervisions of security agencies, political party representatives, and accredited observers, to ensure that every materials get to their destinations intact and on-time”.
“We assure the electorates that all necessary measures have been put in place to ensure free, fair and credible Local government council elections in our beloved Niger State. In the course of this exercise, the commission has worked closely with security agencies to provide adequate coverage throughout the state”, he maintained.
The Chairman, however, appealed to all political parties to conduct themselves peacefully and in accordance with the rules and regulations guiding the electoral process.
