FG Reaffirms Commitment To Health Promotion

Coordinating Minister of Health and Social Welfare Muhammad Pate has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to strengthening and promoting health initiatives as a cornerstone of national development and human capital growth.

Minister disclosed this yesterday during a press briefing to mark the 2025 National Health Promotion Day in Abuja.

Speaking further, the minister also emphasized that the initiative represents Nigeria’s bold step toward preventive health and sustainable well-being for all Nigerians.

Daju Kachollom emphasized that the 2025 year’s theme, “Health Promotion: The Catalyst for Sustainable Health and Well-being of Nigerians 2.0” is meant to reflect the country’s determination of leverage innovation, technology, and community engagement to advance healthier living across the country.

While highlighting the role of prevention in reducing disease burden, the Minister explained that health promotion empowers Nigerians to make an informed decisions about diet, physical activity, and environmental hygiene.

 He explained that through the National Health Promotion Policy, the Ministry has scaled up community education, campaigns on nutrition and hygiene, and integration of health education into school curricula. According to him, the “2.0” concept symbolizes a digital transformation in public health outreach, deploying mobile health applications, telemedicine, and digital campaigns to reach underserved populations across Nigeria.

Also speaking at the occasion were different key stakeholders who commended the ministry for implementing action plans and policies for the betterment of Nigerians.

At the occasion, Nigerians were urged to renew their commitment to promoting healthy lifestyles at homes, schools, workplaces, and communities, stressing that collective action is essential for achieving sustainable health and well-being.
