Association of Nigerian Female Students, ANFS, has elected Peter Precious as President.
Peters, a student of Nuhu Bamali Polytechnic, Zaria, Kaduna State, was declared winner of the election after garnering 26 votes to defeat her closest rival, Aisha Mohammed of the University of Kano, who scored 10 votes.
The election results as announced by the Chairperson of ANFS Stakeholders, Sarki Sylvia Yemi, showed that Precious was declared president, with other new officials of the association including Onoilu Betty of the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, as vice president (External Affairs); Jatau Tabitha Ayuku of Nasarawa State University, Keffi, as vice president (Internal Affairs; Sani Halimat of Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University, ATBU, Bauchi affiliated with Kogi State College of Education Ankpa, and Sarah Davou of Plateau State University as vice president (Intercampus Affairs).
Duruji Prudence of Alvan Ikoku Federal University of Education, Owerri, was elected deputy senate president, while Comrade Jatau Stephen of Nasarawa State University emerged financial secretary.
Also elected were Jonathan Mercy of Bayelsa State University as senate clerk; Igwe Gloria of Anambra State Polytechnic; Ibiyemi Omoselewa as director of Sports, and Saka Humi of the Federal College of Education, Okene, as director of Welfare.
Declaring the election results, Yemi noted that “the same trend was observed in other positions, with the general secretary and vice president (Internal Affairs) winning their respective contests with 26 votes, while their opponents received 10 votes each.
“The election, which was attended by 36 delegates, was conducted in a peaceful and orderly manner. We congratulate the winners on their victory and appreciate all participants for their sportsmanship.
“The newly elected officials are expected to take the association to greater heights, promoting the interest of Nigerian female students and empowering them to reach their full potentials. We wish them a successful tenure and look forward to seeing the impact they will make.”
