Former governor of Lagos State Babatunde Fashola (SAN) is to deliver the 40th convocation lecture of the University of Ilorin, Unilorin.
The lecture, titled ‘The Gen-Z Playbook:” Navigating Work and the Real World,’ will be delivered at the university’s auditorium, main campus at 9am on Wednesday, October 22, according to a statement by the Registrar of the university, Mr Mansur Alfanla.
He said the convocation programme would run from Friday, October 17, to Sunday, October 26.
President Bola Tinubu is also billed to commission some newly completed projects as part of activities marking the 40th convocation ceremonies.
Alfanla said the convocation ceremonies would kick off on October 17 with a special Juma’at service at the university central mosque beginning at 1pm.
The registrar added that an interdenominational church service would hold on Sunday, October 19 at the Chapel of the Light, University Campus
He disclosed that the Vice Chancellor, Professor Wahab Egbewole (SAN) would on Monday, October 20, address a world press conference on the ceremonies and the achievements recorded by the university in the last one year.
Alfanla explained that on Tuesday, October 21, the convocation play titled ‘Joromi,’ would be staged at the university performing and film arts theatre between 4pm and 6pm and from 6pm to 8pm.
Alfanla also noted that the convocation for graduands who undertook four-year programmes and diplomas would be held at the university auditorium immediately after the convocation lecture.
The registrar further disclosed that on Thursday, October 23, the convocation of graduands of five and six years programmes, as well as postgraduate graduands would hold.
Commissioning of projects by President Tinubu after the convocation on the same Thursday would take place at the various project sites at 1:30pm followed at 4pm by staff merit awards and convocation luncheon.
He added that the week-long ceremonies would be concluded with a special jumaat service on Friday, October 24, 2025, by 1:30pm and thanksgiving service at St. Thomas Aquinas Chaplaincy on Sunday, October 26, 2025, beginning at 9am.
