Federal Road Safety Corps, FRSC, has urged men and officers of the corps and stakeholders to work together for a future, where roads are safer and lives will be reserved.
Outgoing Commander, Badagry Unit, FRSC, Mr William Manga, gave the advice yesterday at his sendforth party, organised by the command in Badagry.
Manga urged officers and stakeholders to keep the flame burning and build on the foundation they had laid.
“I implore you to work together for a future where our roads are safer and lives are preserved.
“As I take my leave, I want to remind us that road safety is a shared responsibility.
“The task does not end with one commander or one tenure–it is a continuous journey,” he said.
Recounting his experience in Badagry, Manga said he assumed duty as Unit Commander of RS2.11, Badagry in June 2023.
“I came with a strong sense of responsibility and a clear vision: to improve road safety. strengthen collaboration with stakeholders and foster a cordial relationship with the host community.
“Today, I am proud to say that we achieved these goals together. Our achievements are not mine alone, t,hey belong to this dedicated team of officers and marshals, who worked tirelessly, day and night, to ensure safer roads.
“They belong to the transport unions, community leaders, traditional rulers, security agencies, schools and religious bodies, who opened their doors and hearts to support our programmes.
“They belong to the good people of Badagry who embraced our enlightenment campaigns and partnered us to reduce road traffic crashes.
“Together, we recorded improved compliance with traffic regulations, strengthened enforcement with fairness and discipline, and enhanced public trust in the corps,” he said.
Manga noted that through deepened community engagement and sustained sensitisation, they were able to bring the message of road safety closer to the people.
“One of the greatest blessings of my tenure here has been the good working relationship I enjoyed with the host community.
“Badagry welcomed me warmly and gave me the needed support to succeed.
“The traditional institution, youth groups, transport unions and civil society organisations all stood by us, making our job easier and more impactful,” he said.
The outgoing commander thanked men and officers of the unit for their loyalty, dedication and hard work.
“To my colleagues, seniors and subordinates alike, thank you for the support and cooperation you gave me.
“To Badagry communities and stakeholders, I say I am deeply grateful for your friendship, collaboration and trust,” he said.
In his remarks, a retired FRSC officer, Mr Fatai Aduloju, said Manga is a good officer, who always worked diligently with his men and officers.
Also, the command’s spokesman, Mr Sulaiman Abdullahi, described the unit commander as a disciplined and God fearing officer, adding that the command would miss him.
The News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, reports that Manga was transferred to the Edo Sector Command as the Deputy Corps Commander.
