The President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Engineer Musa Nimrod, has commended the steady progress of volleyball in Nigeria and beyond, ahead of the Federation’s elective congress scheduled for Monday.
Speaking in an interview on Sunday, Nimrod expressed satisfaction with the development of the sport and urged delegates to vote wisely to sustain the momentum.
“People need to understand that elections are about give and take. Whether you win or lose, we must come together and work as a team. That, to me, is what truly matters,” he said.
He emphasized that leadership is not just about occupying positions but about making meaningful contributions. “There’s no real difference between winning and losing—what matters most is our collective commitment to progress,” Nimrod added.
“Participation is key. It’s not just about being elected; it’s about being effective. Sadly, we sometimes have people in leadership roles who contribute very little. That’s why the NVBF constitution empowers us to appoint individuals into committees, ensuring everyone has a chance to contribute meaningfully.”
Reflecting on the current state of volleyball in the country, Nimrod said he is pleased with the direction the sport is heading, despite the usual challenges.
“There are areas where we face competition-related issues, but that’s normal in any political or organizational setup. What’s important is that more passionate and committed individuals are getting involved in volleyball governance. That’s a very positive sign, and I’m truly pleased with that,” he concluded.
The NVBF elective congress is expected to usher in a new phase of leadership as the Federation continues its push to grow the game at grassroots and elite levels.
