Agbor, the headquarters of Ika South Local Government Area, Delta State was agog at the weekend as members of Delta North APC Women Leaders Forum met at Stevenson Hotel. The host was the Delta North APC Woman Leader, Chief(Mrs) Onyeisi Ochei Ogbeakwu.
The one thousand seating capacity hall had an overflow as APC women leaders from the nine local government areas in Delta North attended the enlarged meeting. Among notable APC women present at the meeting were: former member, House of Representatives and Executive Director, Rural Electrification Agency, REA, Hon(Engr) Doris Uboh, Chief(Mrs) Nkem Okwuofu, Commissioner representing Ika Ethnic Nationality, DESOPADEC, Hon(Mrs) Cordilia Anyangwu, Vice-Chairman, Ika South Local Government, Mrs Gloria Amamosa Onyeagbor, State woman leader of the party, LGA women leaders, Ward women leaders, including top female appointees in government. Present to honour the women was the state Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme who was ably represented by Mr Godwin Uzor
In her address, Chief(Mrs) Onyeisi Ochei Ogbeakwu harped on unity which she said is the surest way to promote and advance the interest of the party.
Her words, “As we gathered here today, I want to acknowledge the strength, resilience and diversity that each and everyone of you brings to our community. But, I also want to talk about disunity that I believe holds us back from reaching our full potential.We live in a world where women are often placed against each other, where we’re socialized to compete rather than collaborate.But I say to you, no more!.It’s time for us to come together, to support one another.
When we’re united, we’re unstoppable. We can achieve greatness, we can create change, and we can build a brighter future for ourselves and our families”.
She specifically thanked her political leader, Hon(Engr) Doris Uboh, the State Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, all women leaders and stakeholders who turned out for the meeting. She concluded by declaring that APC will continue to wax strong in Delta North, Delta State and Nigeria in general.
The State Deputy Governor through his representative, Mr Edwin Uzor commended the impressive turnout of APC women leaders at the meeting. He urged them to remain focused and dedicated to the party which according to him is strongly committed to their welfare. He thanked Chief(Mrs) Onyeisi Ochei Ogbeakwu for the good work of gathering the women. He assured of his full support for the women as they all work together for the progress of APC.
On her part, Hon(Engr) Doris Uboh called for maximum support for the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori come 2027. While commending the women for coming out colourfully in large numbers for the meeting, he urged them to continue to work together in unity for the progress of APC. She said that as one indivisible family APC will continue to grow in the state.
Speaking in the same vein, a grassroot politician, Chief(Mrs) Nkem Okwuofu stated that there is no new and old APC as they are all one family united for the same purpose. She called on all APC leaders at the meeting to remain supportive of the party and the administrations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Hon(Mrs) Cordilia Anyangwu and other APC women who spoke during the event pledged their loyalty and unflinching support for the party and the administrations of Tinubu and Oborevwori.
