Northern States Governors Forum, NSGF, has expressed grief over the death of the Emir of Zuru in Kebbi State, Major-General Muhammadu Sami (rtd.), Gomo II, who passed away at the age of 81.
Chairman of the forum and governor of Gombe State, Inuwa Yahaya, in a condolence message on behalf of the governors, described the late monarch as a patriotic leader, elder statesman and a highly respected traditional ruler who devoted his life to the service of Nigeria.
Governor Yahaya recalled the emir’s distinguished military career, particularly his tenure as military administrator of the old Bauchi State, where he made remarkable contributions to the state’s development.
He noted the late monarch’s unwavering commitment to the progress of Zuru Emirate and his invaluable role in strengthening the Northern Traditional Rulers Council, where he was widely regarded as a stabilising voice.
The forum extended its condolences to the royal family, Zuru Emirate Council, as well as the government and people of Kebbi State, urging them to uphold the legacy of dignity, service and development left behind by the emir.
Governor Yahaya prayed Almighty Allah to forgive the late monarch’s shortcomings, accept his good deeds and grant him eternal rest in Aljannat Firdaus.
