The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that Corps Member Ushie Rita Uguamaye, State Code No. LA/24B/8325, was denied her Certificate of National Service (CNS) over critical remarks about the government.
In a statement issued on Sunday in Abuja by the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations, Caroline Embu, the NYSC described the claim as “entirely baseless.”
According to the statement, Ms. Uguamaye is one of 131 corps members whose certificates were withheld for valid disciplinary reasons. Specifically, her service year was extended by two months for failing to attend the April 2025 biometric clearance — a sanction in line with the NYSC Bye-Laws.
The NYSC stressed that the extension is a routine disciplinary measure, not unique to her case, and reflects the Corps’ commitment to equal treatment for all members.
The public was urged to approach the matter with understanding and refrain from politicizing what is a long-standing internal procedure.
“The NYSC remains committed to discharging its mandate in accordance with the provisions of the Constitution,” the statement concluded.
Nigeria is Ours; Nigeria We Serve.
