Kaduna State House of Assembly has confirmed the appointment of Malam Ahmed Maiyaki as the Commissioner for Information and a member of the State Executive Council.
The confirmation was announced during Thursday’s plenary presided over by Speaker Yusuf Liman, at the Assembly Complex in Kaduna.
Earlier, the Clerk of the House, Sakinatu Idris, read a formal communication from the executive arm of government, requesting the screening and confirmation of Maiyaki for the portfolio.
Speaking during the session, the Chairman of the House Committee on Information, Henry Marah, described the nominee as a seasoned and dedicated journalist, commending his years of service to the people of Kaduna State across various strategic roles.
Following his confirmation, Maiyaki told newsmen that he is committed to revitalising the Ministry of Information, which had been dormant for nearly a decade.
He emphasized that under his leadership, the ministry will focus on democratising communication between government and citizens, ensuring transparency, responsiveness and public engagement in governance.
Before his appointment, he was the managing director of Kaduna State Media Corporation.
