Jigawa State government has presented cheques of N270 million as compensation to 14 families affected by the reconstruction of Gumel Central Mosque.
Speaking during the presentation ceremony at the palace of the Emir of Gumel, Dr Ahmed Sani, the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Malam Bala Ibrahim urged the affected families to use the funds wisely to build new houses.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Directorate of Administration and Finance, Office of the SSG, Alhaji Abdullahi Sa’idu, Ibrahim encouraged the families to embrace their relocation in good faith.
He emphasised that justice and equity were prioritised in the compensation process for the beneficiaries.
Speaking, the Chairman of Gumel Local Government, Muhammad Gako commended Governor Umar Namadi for the gesture and pledged the council’s support for the reconstruction of the mosque.
