It was a proud and memorable moment for the Comptroller-General of Customs, Bashir Adewale Adeniyi, as he was honoured with the prestigious Award of Excellence by the Confederation of African Volleyball (CAVB).
The award was presented during the closing ceremony of the 2025 CAVB U-18 Beach Volleyball Continental Championship, held on Thursday at Jabi Lake, Abuja. It recognizes the CGC’s exceptional contributions to the growth and promotion of volleyball in Nigeria.
The Comptroller-General has made a lasting impact on Nigerian sports through his unwavering physical and financial support, particularly in the development of volleyball. His efforts have not only empowered countless young athletes but have also played a crucial role in talent discovery and youth engagement across the country.
Through strategic investment and encouragement, CGC Adeniyi has helped provide opportunities for unemployed youth, offering them a sense of purpose and a path to a better future through sports.
His commitment to using sports as a tool for youth empowerment and national development has now earned him continental recognition, solidifying his place as one of Nigeria’s foremost sports supporters.
