Okpebholo Sacks Suspended Aide, Isere, Appoints Otono

FROM IKHILI EBALU,  BENIN CITY

Edo State governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has appointed Kashimu  Otono was the new Special Adviser on Oil and Gas, replacing Felix Isere, who was recently suspended over alleged unauthorised fundraising activities.

Isere’s suspension followed accusations by the state government that he raised funds without approval for a proposed Oil and Gas Summit. In response, it suspended the programme and directed Isere to refund all monies collected from donors.

AljazirahNigeria recalls that the governor ordered Isere’s suspension for unauthorised fundraising using the name of the Edo State government for the proposed summit.

“In view of the foregoing, the proposed summit is hereby suspended and Mr Isere has been ordered to refund all monies to the various donors. Prospective donors are, by this announcement, advised to desist from dealing with the suspended appointee,” he concluded.

The announcement was contained in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Umar Ikhilor, dated July 31.

“It is hereby announced for the information of the general public that Governor Okpebholo has approved the appointment of Barr Kashimu Otono as Special Adviser (Oil and Gas),” the letter read.
