First Lady Demands End To Benue Killings, Donates N1bn To Victims

First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu has called for an immediate end to the insecurity in Benue State. 

Senator Tinubu, who made the call yesterday during her visit to Makurdi, emphasised the importance of peace and dialogue in addressing the violence that has plagued the state for over a decade.

The first lady made a donation of N1 billion to the victims of displaced communities and provided relief materials to help alleviate their suffering.

She pledged to continue to support those in need, particularly children, girls and individuals with disabilities.

In his remark, the Tor Tiv, Professor James Ayatse called on the federal government to take action against terror networks operating in Benue and Nasarawa States.

He emphasised the need for the reconstruction of destroyed communities and compensation for victims of the attacks.

In his address, Governor Hyacinth Alia reiterated his call for the establishment of state police and a national policy on ranching to address the insecurity caused by herders.

He commended Senator Tinubu for her visit and commitment to national solidarity in the face of the ongoing crisis affecting over 1.5 million displaced individuals in Benue.
