Marcus Rashford has joined Barcelona on a season-long loan from Manchester United, with an option for the Spanish champions to make the move permanent in 2026 for £30.3 million (€35 million).
The 27-year-old forward, who becomes the first English player to sign for Barça since Gary Lineker in 1986, said he already feels “at home” at the club, calling it a “family place” where top talents can thrive.
Rashford, who hasn’t featured for United since December after being dropped by manager Ruben Amorim, spent the latter half of last season on loan at Aston Villa. He was one of five players who asked to leave the club in July.
Barcelona will pay his full wages after Rashford accepted a pay cut — saving United around £14-15 million. He trained with his new teammates on Tuesday and is expected to be part of the squad traveling to Japan for a pre-season tour.
A product of United’s academy, Rashford scored 138 goals in 426 appearances, winning five major trophies. However, his form dipped after signing a five-year deal in 2023, netting just eight times in the 2023/24 season and facing disciplinary issues under former boss Erik ten Hag
