Police Arrest Notorious Impersonator In Kaduna

Kaduna State Police Command has announced the arrest of a notorious 59-year-old impersonator, Aminu Ado Yarima, from Bichi Local Government Area of Kano State. 

The suspect was apprehended at his residence in Keffi, Nasarawa State, following credible intelligence and weeks of sustained surveillance.

The announcement was contained in a statement made available to newsmen in Kaduna by the command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan.

According to the statement, the suspect confessed to having impersonated several high-profile personalities, including the governor of Kaduna State, chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service, FIRS, and the Inspector-General of Police, among others.

During a search conducted at his residence, the police recovered five mobile phones, 23 SIM cards and several diaries and jotters containing phone numbers of high-ranking government officials, traditional rulers and senior security officers.

The police spokesman said preliminary investigation had commenced and that the suspect would be charged to court upon its conclusion.

The Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad reassured the public of the command’s commitment to rid the society of fraudsters, impersonators and other criminals.

“The command has demonstrated its determination to tackle crime and protect the public and as such, the arrest of the impersonator is a significant breakthrough. The police will continue to work tirelessly to ensure that those who engage in such activities are brought to justice,” he stated.
