Countdown to Power: Over 400 Athletes, Officials Set to Storm Abuja for African Armwrestling Championship

The countdown is on — in just 16 days, Abuja will take center stage as the African continent gathers for a historic showcase of strength and resilience.
From July 23–27, 2025, Nigeria’s capital will host the 14th African Armwrestling Championship and 7th Para-Armwrestling Championship, welcoming over 400 athletes and officials from across 20 nations.
With final travel arrangements, medical clearances, and logistics now completed, delegations from across Africa are preparing to arrive in waves for what promises to be the biggest showdown in the sport’s continental history.

Preparations are already in full swing. The Nigeria Armwrestling Federation, in collaboration with National Sports Commission NSC and the Local Organizing Committee (LOC), has assured a world-class experience — from airport reception to accommodation, transport, and competition logistics.
“This isn’t just a tournament — it’s a movement,” said Hon. Adeboye Adeyinka, LOC Chairman and Senior Special Assistant to the President on Grassroots Sports Development. “Abuja is ready, and Nigeria is prepared to welcome Africa with pride and power.”
With Team Nigeria officially unveiled, the championship mascot launched, and all branding and media plans in motion, Abuja 2025 is shaping up to be a defining moment for African sports — one that will celebrate strength, unity, and the spirit of competition.
