Former Military President, Gen. Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida has commiserated with the people of Mokwa and the entire State over the recent flood disaster in Mokwa Local Government Area of Niger State.
Babangida stated this when he received State Government delegation led by the Deputy Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba on a Sallah Homage at his Uphill Residence, in Minna,last Saturday.
He described what happened in Mokwa as unfortunate but said, it was ordained by Allah and enjoined the residents of the state to continue to pray for the souls of the deceased.
He express his happiness over the administration of Governor Umaru Bago for its developmental strides and called for sustenance and assured of his continued support.
Niger State Deputy Governor, Comrade Yakubu Garba who led the State Government delegation said the visit was to seek his blessings and fatherly advise.
Yakubu said, the Government is aware that the General is disturbed with the recent incident in Mokwa and appreciated him for his fatherly role at all times.
The Deputy governor said, former president remains a pillar of hope for the Nation, stress that the people of Niger State and Nigeria in general are appreciative of his diligent service to the country and assured him that the State Government will not fail him in ensuring dividends of democracy for the people of the state.
Comrade Yakubu, however prayed for the former president Babangida for good health to enable them to continue to tap from his wealth of experience for the development of the state and the entire society.
