Safe School: NSCDC Trains Senior Officers On Modern Security Techniques

Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, FCT Command, has trained  senior officers on ensuring proper protection of schools  using modern techniques.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Spokesperson, NSCDC, FCT Command, Monica Ojobi in Abuja, Wednesday.

Ojobi said  during the recently concluded two-day training organised for the officers, adequate modern security skills/tips was taught to ensure utmost result in the protection of schools.

She noted that the  NSCDC Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, while addressing  personnel at the closing ceremony, said it was part of the corps’s proactive measures.

Odumosu charged the personnel to work hard, imbibe the lessons learnt during the training and justify the confidence reposed on them by the corps and federal government to ensure the safety of schools and students in the FCT.

“We must be proactive in our approach and you must perform your duty with utmost dedication and determination so that the school environment and our children are safe at all times,” he charged.

The FCT helmsman urged the officers to carve a niche for themselves, using the resources at their disposal to achieve positive results in the interest of citizens and residents.

“As the lead agency in the safe school programme, protection of the environment and students is  sacrosanct.

“You must thrive hard to  advance school security through your excellent performance,” Odumosu stated.

He advised the officers to maintain active surveillance and constant patrol of school environments.

He also urged them to maintain a balanced and cordial relationship with the school management to guarantee confidence and allay unnecessary fear or apprehension.

“Remember that the Safe School Initiative, among other mandates of the corps, are our own way of rendering quality services to our communities and for that reason, you must give it your best shot,” the commandant said.

Odumosu ordered the operatives to ensure that they generate accurate data and statistics of schools in the FCT to assist in planning for a comprehensive security coverage by the corps. NAN
