A Civil Society group, Committee for the Defence of Justice and Equity, (CDJE) has called on the security agencies to conduct a thorough investigation on alleged financial inducement by the Senator representing Kogl Central district at the National Assembly , Sen. Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan.
A United States – based activist , Dr Sandra Duru has alleged that Senator Natasha Akpoti Uduaghan offered her a sum of 200 Million Naria to falsely implicate the Senate president, Sen Godswil Akpabio in organ harvest, an offer she claimed she rejected on ethical grounds .
Dr Duru had claimed that she had submitted phone call logs of her conversation with Sen. Uduaghan for forensic analysis .
In a press conference in Abuja on Monday by the National Coordinator , Comrade Peter Nwokolo said the gravity of the allegation demands urgent scrutiny, investigation and should not be sweet under the carpet.
The group called for the immediate resolution of the controversy to safeguard the nation’s Democratic and legislative institution as well as restoring public confidence.
He said ” Nigerian Security agencies including the department of State Security Service , (DSS) and the Independent Corrupt Practices and other related Offences Commission , (ICPC) must conduct a thorough and impartial investigation into Dr Sandra Duri’ s allegations . This should include forensic analysis of the alleged phone logs to verify claims of financial inducement by Senator Akpoti Uduaghan and DrvEzekwrsili involvement.
” Senator Uduaghan who enjoys no constitutional immunity and Dr Ezekwesili must be summoned to provide detailed response to these allegations . Their failure to address these claims transparency risks further eroding public trust and compromising Nigeria’s Democratic stability”
