Bandits have reportedly imposed a N60 million levy on 12 communities in Zamfara State.
This was revealed in a post on X by Bakatsine, a conflict and crisis journalist in the North West zone.
Bakatsine listed the Zamfara communities to include Koloma, Dan Hayin Zargado, Zargado, Dan Godabe, Sabuwar Tunga, Makini, Bubaka, Yelwa, Bahwada, Koda, Manya and Kabusu.
He wrote that the affected communities were alleged to be aiding military raids.
According to him, residents fear attacks if they do not pay the levy as imposed by the bandits.
“Bandits have imposed a N60 million levy on 12 Zamfara communities: Koloma, Dan Hayin Zargado, Zargado, Dan Godabe, Sabuwar Tunga, Makini, Bubaka, Yelwa, Bahwada, Koda, Manya and Kabusu for allegedly aiding military raids. Residents fear attacks if they don’t pay,” the journalist wrote.
