The Abuja Municipal Area Council, AMAC, Chairman, Christopher Zakka Maikalangu, has expressed unwavering support for the governments of President Bola Tinubu and FCT Minister, Nyesom Wike.

Maikalangu disclosed this on thursday at the Old Parade Ground in Abuja, during APC FCT Unity Rally, that his stance underscores his commitment to collaborating with the federal government to deliver democratic dividends to AMAC residents.

He said: “Today marks a defining moment in my political journey. I stand before you not just as your Chairman, but as your servant-leader who remains committed to the progress, peace, and prosperity of our great Area Council.

“After careful consultations with stakeholders, community leaders, youths and women groups, and the good people of AMAC, I have made the decision to officially join the All Progressives Congress (APC).”

He emphasized that this move isn’t driven by personal ambition. Instead, it’s about positioning AMAC to tap into opportunities by aligning with the current administration. “Our goal is to ensure the benefits of governance reach every part of our communities, from Nyanya to Karshi, Karu to Jikwoyi, and Garki to Wuse.

According to him, since President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike took office, we’ve seen tangible progress. Infrastructure development is underway, security has improved, and lives are being impacted. AMAC has already benefited from federal appointments and projects initiated by the Tinubu administration.

“Notably, the appointment of Hon. Dr. Zephaniah Bitrus Jisalo as Minister of Special Duties and Inter-governmental Affairs marks a milestone. For the first time in Nigeria’s democratic history, the FCT has a representative in the Federal Executive Council. This development underscores the administration’s commitment to inclusivity and recognition of the FCT’s needs.

“By aligning with the federal government, we can unlock more opportunities and bring development closer to our people.”

“In addition, please permit me to appreciate Mr President for equally approving the appointment of FCT indigene as the FCT Head of Civil Service, and also the establishment of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu Federal Polytechnic in Gwarimpa.

“To our political family, let me assure you this is not a goodbye. I am still the same Maikalangu you know. I remain accessible, accountable, and committed to inclusive governance. My administration will continue to deliver people-oriented projects, empower our youth and women, and strengthen grassroots democracy.”

“Let us work together, not as members of different parties, but as people united in the pursuit of a better future for AMAC. With this move, I believe we are positioning ourselves to attract more federal support, development programs, and infrastructure that will uplift our communities.

“In closing, I want to thank His Excellency President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, the National Chairman of our great party Dr Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, the National Working Committee of our great party, the Hon Minister of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Hon. Zephaniah Jisalo, my own state Chairman FCT, Alhaji Abdulmalik Usman, the AMAC Party Chairman, my Ward Chairman, and all our party excos, for their support and vision for Abuja.

“I pledge my loyalty to the APC family and reaffirm my commitment to always put the people of AMAC first. Let’s move forward together. The best days of AMAC are ahead of us.”

While welcoming Maikalangu to the ruling party, the National Chairman of APC, Senator Abdullahi Ganduje, said the good works of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made all the area councils in the FCT to embrace APC.

He revealed Maikalangu took the best decision by joining the ruling party, even as he urged AMAC residents to continue supporting the Executive Chairman of AMAC.
