Abia State Governor, Dr Alex Otti, has ordered Security Agencies in the State to launch a manhunt for the gunmen responsible for the brutal killing of two Chinese miners and a police officer at a mining site in Uturu, Abia State.
The Governor’s directive was contained in a statement yesterday afternoon by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ferdinand Ekeoma.
Governor Otti who described the incident as “dastardly and unprovoked”, said the attack bore the imprint of terrorism; urging security operatives to ensure that the perpetrators must not go scot-free.
He disclosed that beyond creating the enabling environment for businesses and other economic activities to thrive, his government has ensured that lives and property are protected through the provision of the necessary support to security agencies in the state.
The Governor also said that plans we’re afoot to intensify security collaboration with neighboring states to prevent criminals from using border communities as entry points to Abia for criminal activities.
He offered condolences to the Nigerian Police Force, the Chinese Embassy and the families and loved ones of the victims of the attack, and prayed God to grant their souls eternal repose.
