Osun Masterminds has condemned the continuous closure of all the local government headquarters in Osun State.

The Coalition of Civil Society Organization during their monthly press briefing by the Executive Director, Prof. Wasiu Oyedokun-Alli, on the happenings in Osun State and Nigeria as a whole, condemned the continued inactivity in the Local Governments while calling on all stakeholders to immediately act responsibly.

The Osun Masterminds, who called on the Osun State Governor, Ademola Adeleke, to urgently take steps which are in the best interest of the State’s development, and preservation of the rule of law said, such steps may include collaborations with the Office of the Attorney-General of the Federation, or request for clarifications from the Court of Appeal that delivered the controversial judgment, or an approach to the Supreme Court for interpretations or invalidation of the controversial judgment.

The Civil Society Organization, also called on Local Government Employees to rethink their involvement in the imbroglio, so that they do not continue to be active participants in the crippling of the Local Governments.

“The Local Governments take development close to the people and where this critical arm of government becomes dysfunctional, the people suffer direct consequences.

“The leaders and stakeholders of NULGE should liaise with and seek clarifications from relevant authorities instead of endlessly abandoning work.

“No matter the sentiments that both parties beat up on the issue, the fact remains that the Local Governments are crippled and this is against the principles of democracy”.
