Group Urges President Tinubu To Remember People Behind His Emergence

Date:

From Richard Akintade, Osogbo

Concern Osun Youth Development Group, COYDG, yesterday called on President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to remember the people who founded the first group that championed the South-West Agenda ,SWAGA23, and other political campaign organizations.

According to the COYDG in a statement issued and made available to newsmen  in Osogbo by the President, Hon Damilola Owoade and the Secretary, Engr John Bamidele, some of the founders of this political group which includes Hon Rotimi Makinde, Senator Soji Akanbi and Senator Dayo Adeyeye played a pivotal role in Nigeria’s political landscape as well as other campaign groups like, Tinubu Support Group, Tinubu Ambassador, and Tinubu Shettima Campaign Organization, TSCO, among others.

As far back as 2020 according to the COYDG, the group that fought for the emergence of SWAGA23 had the foresight to advocate for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership.

According to the group, “We wish to remind President Tinubu that most of the people behind this SWAGA23 like Hon Rotimi Makinde from Ile-Ife among others who were his grassroot campaigners and foot soldiers during the elections and other members of the campaign groups mentioned above, have still not been compensated, rewarded or received any form of recognition from his administration.

“The contributions and sacrifices made by Hon Rotimi Makinde and others should never be overlooked or undervalued as it is essential to ensure that the labourers receive their just rewards for their unwavering dedication to building a better Nigeria.

“Your Excellency Sir, we know your track record as a reward of hard work and loyalty, that is why we are using this medium to appeal, request and remind your esteemed office to remember your loyalists that belong to various campaign organizations.

“Your Excellency Sir, it is on record that these campaign groups stood firmly by you in all the stages of the 2023 Presidential election, that’s why we want you Sir to remember them as it is crucial to remember that labourers are indeed worthy of their wages as the dream that they will be compensated with appointments by President Tinubu is fast becoming a mirage.

“Political appointments serve two distinct functions. One is to reward supporters and the other, to control the state.

“While this may not be a deliberate act of commission or ommision on the part of Presidency, we feel this requires very urgent attention now, as the race for the 2027 general elections has begun in earnest”, COYDG concluded.
