Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni has distributed 24 refurbished vehicles to security agencies to enhance their ability to respond swiftly to emerging security challenges.
Represented by his Deputy, Idi Barde Gubana, the governor handed over the vehicles to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency, NDLEA, at the Government House, Damaturu.
According to him, the vehicles would enhance timely response to security threats and intensify surveillance and patrol.
He also advised the NDLEA to redouble its efforts so as to eradicate the menace of drug abuse which is the main factor for every criminal activity.
He expressed appreciation for the tireless efforts of security personnel in safeguarding lives and properties of citizens.
Speaking after the handover of the vehicles, Special Adviser to the governor on Security Matters, Brigadier-General Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd) noted that the initiative marks another milestone in Governor Buni’s commitment to enhance security infrastructure and ensure that the state remains safe for residents.
According to him, 18 of the vehicles were allocated to the state police command, while NDLEA received four to combat crime and criminality in the state.
