Yobe State governor,Mai Mala Buni has convened a high-level security meeting with heads of security agencies to ensure a hitch-free and peaceful Eid-El-fitir sallah celebration across the state.
The meeting, held at the Government House, Damaturu, was to review the current security situation and put in place, proactive measures for a hitch-free festive period.
The governor, represented by his Deputy, Idi Barde Gubana, commended security agencies for their efforts in ensuring peace, law and order in the state.
The meeting equally appreciated the efforts of traditional rulers and community leaders in conflict resolution in their various domains.
In a joint press briefing, the Acting Commissioner of Police, Abubakar Osun said the meeting was to analyse the security architecture and ensure a peaceful Eid.
He urged parents and guardians to monitor the movement of their children during the festivities and warn them on reckless behaviour and driving.
He prayed for a peaceful Eid across the state.
Also speaking on the security situation in Gujba axis, Special Adviser to the governor on Security Matters, Brigadier-General Dahiru Abdulsalam (rtd) disputed a rumoured notice given by Boko Haram to some communities in Gujba to vacate the area.
