In a bid to tackle rising insecurity in Ondo State, the police command has conducted a two-day intensive training for its officers on crime mapping and prevention strategies.
The training, aimed at enhancing crime detection, came amid increasing incidents of kidnapping, particularly in Akure North Local Government Area.
In a statement, the Police Public Relations Officer, Funmilayo Odunlami, said officers were trained on the use of modern equipment, technological crime detection techniques and strategic resource deployment within their Area of Responsibility, AoR.
Odunlami explained that the training featured practical sessions, during which participants learnt how to gather and process information into actionable intelligence.
The Commissioner of Police, Afolabi Olutokunbo, urged the officers to apply the knowledge gained to their daily policing duties.
He emphasized professionalism in crime prevention and law enforcement, noting that effective crime detection requires methodical approaches and best practices.
According to the statement, “The commissioner appreciated the facilitators and commended the participants for their commitment during the training, as the command is committed to capacity building through training and retraining of officers to become professionals and well-equipped to tackle emerging security challenges.”
