Muslim community of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, NSCDC, FCT Command, has distributed foodstuff to widows and children of some officers who died in active service.
This was contained in a statement issued in Abuja, yesterday, by the command’s spokesperson, Monica Ajobi.
She said the gesture took place after the command’s seventh Ramadan Lecture organised by the Muslim faithful.
According to her, the FCT NSCDC Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, commended the gesture, adding that it is a display of true love that should be emulated.
Odumosu said the lecture, with the theme: “Peaceful Coexistence in a Multi-Religious Society: Islamic Perspective”, is apt in view of the need for unity and peaceful coexistence in the country.
“To me, the best religion is love. Let us imbibe the religion of love, seeing each other as brothers and sisters irrespective of religion,” he said.
The commandant noted that the gesture by the Muslim community is thoughtful, as it had put smiles on the faces of the widows and children of their dead colleagues.
He urged other groups and individuals to take a cue by being charitable to the less privileged.
Odumosu wished the Muslim Ummah well, as they continue with Ramadan and also prayed for the well being of Nigeria. NAN
