From HASSAN JIRGI Damaturu
Yobe State governor, Mai Mala Buni has inaugurated a three-day seminar for local government chairmen and the Hisbah Commission management in Kano.
The seminar, with the theme: ‘Strengthening Good Working Relationships in Promoting Sharia Law-Abiding Society,’ aims to empower participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to foster Sharia compliance and combat social vices.
Governor Buni, represented by the Secretary to the State Government, SSG, Baba Malam Wali, emphasised the importance of preserving Islamic values and preventing the spread of social vices.
According to him, the state and nation have suffered moral decadence, heretical ideas and disunity, which could be attributed to a lukewarm attitude towards Islamic teachings.
The governor urged the Hisbah Commission to focus on the institution of Zakat, which he said could provide a solution to socio-economic challenges.
He also stressed the need for it to collaborate with security agencies, traditional rulers and local government councils to establish a harmonious working relationship.
The seminar is expected to equip participants with the necessary knowledge and skills to handle relevant issues, ultimately achieving the desired objectives of a relatively crime-free society.
