Hon Inuah Garba ,APC-Gombe, has urged the Federal Government to intensify efforts to rid the country of local and foreign sponsors of terrorism.
Garba stated this yesterday in Abuja while addressing newsmen on the allegations raised by a U.S Congressman, Mr Scott Perry, on sponsorship of terrorism by United States Agency for International Development ,USAID, in Nigeria.
According to Garba, the primary aim of government is the welfare and protection of lives and property of citizens.
He said that no stone should be left unturned until the facts were fully exposed to ensure relief for Nigerians.
“The primary purpose of governance is the well-being and protection of citizens, hence any information from whatever quarters, government will have to pay proper attention to it with a view to bringing terrorism to an end”, he said.
The lawmaker said that some organisations could be tools in the hands of terror sponsors, adding that government must pay attention to some of the organisations operating in the North-East zone of the country.
“We have hundreds and thousands of NGOs in Nigeria. If you go to Borno, you will see more than five or six helicopters permanently there belonging to some NGOs in the name of fighting Boko Haram.
“If you go to the town, you will see NGOs spending billions upon billions annually, and still, people are living in IDP camps without food, without good water, without schools, and those NGOs are living fat and big”, he said.
Garba called on the media and other stakeholders to support government by bringing out facts that would lead to the end of terrorism in the country.
