Police Confirm Abduction Of Worshippers In Sokoto Village

Sokoto State Police Command has confirmed the abduction of more than 10 individuals during the early morning (Subhi) Muslim prayers in  Bushe community, Sabon Birni Local Government Area ofSokoto State.

Spokesperson of the command, DSP Ahmed Rufai confirmed the incident in a telephone conversation with our correspondent. 

He stated that the police, in collaboration with other security agencies, are actively working to rescue those abducted by  terrorists.

A local source informed our correspondent that  gunmen attacked the community in the early hours of Thursday, January 6,  while residents were performing prayers at the mosque in Bushe town. The attackers kidnapped over 10 worshippers, including the imam.

The source  stated that  gunmen had been harassing the community for some time despite the presence of security personnel. However, thanks to the timely intervention of security agents, led by  army troops, their activities were curtailed.

The member  representing Sabon Birni B State Constituency also confirmed the attack. The lawmaker reported that at least 10 individuals were abducted and commended  security agencies for their swift response.
